What is the Air Force One Experience?

The Air Force One Experience is approximately a 60-minute self-guided experience through an authentic Boeing 747 aircraft. Our goal is educate the next generation of American citizens about the importance of democracy, civic responsibility, and the right to vote. 

Air Force One is a powerful symbol of American democracy - at home and around the world - and the Boeing 747 is a marvel of American engineering and ingenuity. It revolutionized the way the United States of America does diplomacy.

Educators, exhibit designers and former crew members of Air Force One have joined together to tell the fascinating story of American democracy in flight.

Where is the Air Force One Experience located?

The Air Force One Experience is located at 701 National Harbor Blvd, National Harbor MD 20745. National Harbor is a 300 acre, mixed-use development on the shores of the Potomac River in Prince George’s County, MD about 8 miles south of downtown Washington, D.C. Please note there is a $5 charge for parking.


Neither. It isa real Boeing 747 aircraft but it is not the real Air Force One. The exterior has been re-fitted to look almost identical to the real thing. The interior of the aircraft features an exhibit on the history of presidential travel and Air Force One, and the re-created forward cabin of Air Force One including the Conference Room, Presidential Office, and sleeping quarters. It is an educational experience designed to inspire people about the story of American democracy and diplomacy. 

How much does it cost? How do I buy tickets?

Adult - $30.00 Monday-Friday* / $35.00 Saturday & Sunday
Senior (65+), College or Military - $22.00
Child (Ages 5-12) - $15.00

*Adult tickets will be $35 each from December 22nd through January 1st

While tickets are available for purchase onsite, it is recommended you purchase online.  Tickets are non-refundable or exchangeable.

The exhibit is self-guided experience through a Boeing 747 aircraft. There is an Audio Tour for adults and children 15 and above. For children 5 - 14, we offer a scavenger hunt. We cannot guarantee that kids under 5 are going to be enthralled with the history of presidential travel and American diplomacy :)


The Audio Tour is the primary guide for your experience. If you do not use the Audio Tour, you will miss the essence of the tour. The Audio Tour is narrated by Chief Master Sergeant Howie Franklin, head flight attendant for five consecutive presidents (President Ford, President Carter, President Reagan, President Bush, President Clinton).

The Audio Tour is complimentary with your admission and is available on your smartphone - at www.AirForceOne.OnCell.com.

Is the Air Force One Experience handicap accessible?

Yes, the Air Force One Experience is fully handicap accessible and there will be staff on-site that are more than willing to assist. 

How long is the Air Force One Experience?

The Air Force One Experience takes about an hour to enjoy. Please note the initial part of the tour is outdoors, so please dress appropriately for the weather.

Also, while we will do out very best to accommodate crowds, this is a popular experience and you may experience wait times. 

Do I need a smartphone for the Air Force One Experience? What about headphones?

To best enjoy the experience, we recommend bringing a smart phone with an audio jack, and a pair of headphones. The audio tour is available online and can be found at www.AirForceOne.OnCell.com.

Are pets allowed inside the Air Force One Experience?

No pets are allowed in the experience, however, service animals are permitted. Please notify a Flight Crew member if you have a service animal. 

Are food and drink allowed inside the Air Force One Experience?

No, there is no food or drink allowed inside the exhibit.

Where do I park?

Parking for the Air Force One Experience is located at the South Pointe lot at National Harbor.

The address for the South Pointe Parking lot is 701 National Harbor Blvd. Please note parking is $5.


Does the Air Force One Experience close in inclement weather?

The Air Force One Experience will be open in all weather, except dangerous winds, heavy rains, or local lightning, which may cause the attraction to temporarily shut down. Please call ahead to ensure the exhibit is open. We will be happy to reschedule your visit due to weather.

Is the audio tour entirely on the plane

The first part of the tour is outdoors, and appropriate cold weather attire is a must.


What if I missed my designated timeslot that I reserved online?

If you missed your timeslot, your ticket is valid any time the day it is purchased for. However, timeslots help control lines, so you might have to wait in line longer than if you arrived at the designated timeslot. 

Can i rent space at the Exhibit for corporate events or parties?
